Beloved First Family,

Grace and peace to you in the Name of our Risen Lord, Jesus Christ. I pray you are experiencing the love of our Heavenly Father and power of His Holy Spirit!

Every day I grow ever more excited to serve as your pastor. During our time of transition, our incredible staff and lay volunteers have continued to serve the Lord with excellence and joy. I have been listening online to our weekly broadcast and have been blessed by music and strong, Biblical teaching from Wayne, Molly, and Brandon. I know they have each blessed you too.

I am so thankful that you have had a chance to hear from our church coach, Dr. Steve Wende. His leadership and support during this transitional time has been invaluable. I am so grateful for his willingness to serve our church in this important way. He has shared with me numerous times how impressed he is with the First Family!fumcwaco, message, series

August marks a season of new beginnings for all of us. My wife, Kim has begun a new full-time job practicing family medicine at Providence’s Woodway Medical Plaza. I will begin preaching and leading for the First Methodist Family. My son, Davis began full-time day school where he is learning all kinds of new and wonderful things! I realize that my family isn’t the only one marking new beginnings. Several of our families have welcomed new babies in the last month. Others have said goodbye to dear loved ones. Our wonderful church staff is getting a new boss, and you are getting a new spiritual leader – for the first time in over 20 years! It seems that we are all in this season of new beginnings together.

My prayer for us during this time is to keep Jesus Christ central to all we do. Times of transition aren’t always easy, but they do give us all an opportunity to reflect on what is most important and to keep the main thing the main thing. For us, the main thing is proclaiming the Gospel and loving people. It is remembering that People Matter to God – they matter so much that he sent his only son so that those who believe in him shall not perish, but have life eternal!

As we get started in ministry together, I hope you will join me in working to please God in all we do. The truth is, I will get some things right and some things wrong. I will make mistakes, and I will need your forgiveness when I do. My plan is to pray my way through each day and each decision. I plan to ask God, “What will please you most in this matter,” and try my best to live into his will.

Finally, I want to thank all of you who have worked so hard to welcome me and my family. We have never felt so loved and appreciated. We have loved all the cards, words of affirmation, prayers, and expressions of hospitality that you have offered. Thank you! I also want to again thank Rev. Steve Ramsdell for his support and thoughtfulness. I am so blessed by his notes of encouragement and his prayers. His love for you and our great church cannot be overstated.

Church, I look forward to being with you in worship on the weekend of August 5 & 6 when I will preach all five of the weekly worship services. I truly hope you will be there.

Blessings,

Ryan
Lead Pastor
