May 22, 2017
Dear First Methodist Family:
In the 160 plus year life of FUMC, there have been only a handful of watershed moments. One such day was when Rev. Steve Ramsdell became Senior Pastor. Another will be June 25th, when he preaches his last sermon and enters retirement after 40 plus years in ministry.
FUMC has had the privilege to have the leadership and ministry of Steve, as well as, his wife Susan, for the past 20 years. As the First Family, it is our privilege to express our appreciation to both Steve and Susan, for their effective ministry at FUMC since 1997. To show our appreciation, we have planned a reception in the Family Life Center from 11:00 - 12:30 June 25, 2017, following a combined single worship service at 9:30 that morning.
We will be presenting the Ramsdells with a love offering at the worship service on June 25th. We urge you to show your appreciation to Steve and Susan by sending your “love gift” by June 19th to FUMC, Attention Cindy, P.O. Box 7736, Waco, Texas 76714 with a memo on your check: Ramsdell. (We have all heard how competitive Steve is with his brother Mike. His brother retired two years ago, so we want to make sure our love offering gives him bragging rights.) Also, if you would like to include a card or letter of appreciation to Steve and Susan, you can send those at the same time. If you are unable to mail these by June 19th, please bring your check and card or letter to the Finance Office during the week or on the morning of June 25th.
On behalf of the PSPR committee, we would like to encourage each of you not to wait until the last minute to thank Steve or Susan or to express your gratitude to them. June 25th will be a day filled with lots of emotions. Time will simply not allow everyone to wait to say their goodbyes then. Please take the time, now, when you think about it, to pass along your feelings to them. A brief call, note, or time before or after a service, or even while passing in the halls of the church.
Thank you for sharing this time with Steve, Susan, and the Ramsdell family, as we appreciate them, reflect on their amazing ministry to FUMC, and wish them well as they begin this new chapter of their lives. The good news is that they are not leaving the Waco community, and you should still see the fruits of their continued ministry in the area.
In His service,
Jeff & Debbie Wooley
Please be in prayer for them as they transition into their “new life” of service.
