Spring in Full Swing

April 28, 2017

T-ball games. Yard work. School events. Allergies.

Spring is in full swing.

I love this narrow season of beautiful weather when we can go outside and truly enjoy it. The mosquitos aren't too numerous yet and I can soak up some vitamin D without getting sunburned. Have you spent some time outside this week?

I meet God best outside. On a mountain, by the ocean or in my backyard--it doesn't matter where. The world is a beautiful place, and I'm drawn to the Creator when I admire God's handiwork.

Psalm 8:1-4 says, "Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?"

In this big, lovely world it is pretty amazing that God knows us personally, knowing our feelings, our hurts, our victories, our hopes. I think it would be something like knowing the name and story of every ant that lives in our neighborhood. Actually, it's much grander than that, but it's true. What are human beings that you are mindful of us, that you care for us O God?

I hope you have the chance to enjoy some of these pretty spring days--we all know summer comes soon--and to find deep joy in knowing that you are a part of God's good, beloved creation.
