The Monday after a Sunday
April 18, 2017
The Monday after Jesus' resurrection was the first time the disciples awoke with a fresh understanding of who Jesus was adn who they were in relationship with the Risen Lord. Their relationship with Him has been catapulted to a new level. What it all meant.. they were still not sure... but they knew that somthing so cataclysmic had happened that their world, the world, and the universe would never be the same. They knew that life was not - not could it ever be - the same.
From what had happened... on an old rugged cross ... to what happened in a tomb... that now was empty ... to the realization that what happend on the cross, and the tomb, and being empowered by the holy spirit was connected in a way that brought them a power and a purpose they had not had before. This connection and this Spirit moved them with courage to share a story of a risen Christ that would change the world. They became the leaders of the early church. We need the same realization and the same Spirit to lead us today.
"Again Jesus said, 'Peace be with you! As the Father sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said. 'Receive the Holy Spirit.'" John 20:21-22
