People Matter to God

We believe that God has called the church to communicate His grace and love to all people and to bring them into the community that He has created. It is our mission to equip people to live as committed followers of Jesus Christ and encourage them to grow in their daily walk with God.

Living out our Mission

Living as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ requires actively seeking Him. At FUMC Waco, we desire to carry out the mission that God has called us to. There are eight key ways that we follow God’s will for our lives.

Every member living in God's loving, unmerited grace and choosing to walk faithfully in the steps of Jesus Christ.

Every member living to love, seek, and work to help people encounter the grace and call of God.

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 (NASB)

Every member worshiping God, together as a church and personally as a committed Christ-follower.

"Some people have gotten out of the habit meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord’s coming is getting closer." Hebrews 10:25 (CEV)

Every member participating in a small group community and/or Life Transformation Group.

Every member developing a Biblical worldview by learning and applying God's Word.

“All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong with our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

Every member being faithful with the resources God has provided.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should give what he has decided in his heart to given, not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV)

Every member devoted to prayer.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)

Every member discovering and using their spiritual gifts for ministry and mission.

"Each of us has one body with many parts, and these parts all have different uses. In the same way, we are many, but in Christ we are all one body. Each one is part of that body, and each part belongs to all the other parts. We all have different gifts, each of which came because of the grace God gave us.” Romans 12:4-6a (NCV)
