Weekend Worship Services

Offering both Traditional and Contemporary services, we recognize that God is glorified through a variety of worship styles. We invite you to join us at one of our many services where you both feel at home and inspired for worship.

Saturday Contemporary Worship

5:30 pm | In the Sanctuary

Our Saturday night service at First Methodist is a welcoming and eclectic place to seek God and find Him in soul-stirring worship and relevant messages. Community is a part of our worship where we share both triumphs and challenges on the Christian journey, and families find a perfect place to worship together. Our Saturday night children's worship in the FirstKids Powerhouse during the Saturday service is designed to equip kids 4-12 years old to follow Jesus in today's world. Little children (birth-3 years old), located in room 118, is a safe, nurturing place for our littlest members to know the love of God. At First Methodist, our Saturdays are set apart for something special--join us to experience genuine community seeking to know Christ and make Him known.

Sunday Traditional Worship

8:15 am & 10:50 am | In the Sanctuary

With more than 160 years of worship and service, First Methodist Church of Waco is the oldest church in Waco, and we celebrate our rich heritage in our traditional services on Sunday at 8:15 and 10:50 am. Accompanied by the 45-rank Schantz pipe organ, the Chancel Choir leads fresh anthems and favorite hymns for worship, and instrumentalists and vocalists share their musical gifts. These services seek to inspire the future with the past with traditional elements, such as reciting the Lord's Prayer and the Apostles' Creed and partaking Communion six times a year. On occasion, we feature our children's choirs, the youth and college bands, and our handbell choirs to lead us in worship. Multimedia and video clips seek to enhance the worship time. The message is always relevant to real-life issues of following Christ, and all are encouraged to attend a small group Bible study during in 9:30 am Sunday school hour.

Sunday Contemporary Worship

9:30 am | In the Sanctuary

Beginning with upbeat, enthusiastic praise music, our contemporary service seeks to encourage our church family each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The welcoming, loving spirit of this service is consistent each Sunday, and everyone can feel at home during this time of worship and praise. Our live band and worship team strive for authentic worship, and our pastor focuses his message on real-life issues when living for Christ. The dress is casual, and our Sunday school time follows the service with small groups, topical studies, and Bible studies for all ages.

Sunday School

9:30 am & 10:50 am

We believe that it’s important to not only attend services but Sunday School classes too. Every Sunday, we dig deeper into the Bible and discuss scripture to help build relationships and grow in our faith.
